Piada Italian Street Food opens Friday in Mason

Piada Italian Street Food will celebrate the opening of its second Greater Cincinnati location in Mason Thursday.

The first 100 guests to visit the new location at 9317 Mason-Montgomery Road will receive free Piada for a year. Wrist bands will be distributed to those camping out for the grand opening beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday.

The fast-casual Italian eatery opened its first location in Oakley's Hyde Park Plaza in September.

Piada, which was recently featured in Nation's Restaurant News as one of the "hottest new concepts in America," adapts Italian food to the popular made-to-order casual restaurant style-think Chipotle.

Customers start with either a thin-crusted dough, a chopped salad, or a pasta bowl. They then customize with a variety of grilled items and sauces, including meat, sausage, salmon, sauteed fresh vegetables and salad toppings.

There are "street sides" such as parmesan-pepperoni-artichoke sticks, lobster bisque, plus wine, beer, and Italian sodas. The average customer check is under $9.

The restaurant was founded by Chris Doody of the family that founded Bravo Cucina. It's based in Columbus, where there are 7 locations.

The 2,800 square-foot restaurant, which will seat 52 inside and 34 on the patio, will be open 10:45 a.m.-10 p.m. daily.
